Thick Plate Thermoforming A wide range of materials are available for processing, suitable for modification, and wooden molds can be reused. The materials are divided into three types: HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), and ABS TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane). Let's learn about the advantages of thick plate thermoforming!

 Thick Plate Thermoforming

  I. Advantages and Disadvantages of Thick Plate Thermoforming

  1. Thick Plate Thermoforming Processing has Engineering Project Reasonableness

In the packaging manufacturing industry, thick sheet blister processing technology cannot compete with other processing methods unless you use corrugated cardboard as the packaging product. The important advantage of thick sheet blister molding is its engineering project reasonableness. Composite sheets, polyurethane foam sheets, and printed sheets are formed into finished products, replacing changes to thick sheet blister molding machinery and equipment with appropriate mold changes.

  2. Thick Plate Thermoforming Processing Offers a Wide Range of Raw Materials

Thick Plate Thermoforming The processing can produce products as small as tablet packaging and watch batteries, and also very large products such as 3-5m long garden water tanks. The thickness of the forming material can be 0.05-15mm, and for foam plastics, the thickness can be 60mm. Thermosetting plastics and raw materials with similar properties can also be thermoformed.

  3. Wood Block Acquisition

During the thick sheet blister processing, laser cutting of the sheet is required, which may result in scrap. After crushing this corner scrap, it can be mixed with the original material and made into thin sheets. In recent years, the recycling of scrap generated during the entire thick sheet blister processing process has become crucial. Currently, processing technology has been developed by crushing the scrap and mixing it with the original raw materials for recycling.

Application Scale of Thick Plate Thermoforming Process:

It is currently widely used in various industries such as machine boxes, major appliances, electric vehicle software, logistics pallets, large toys, lampshades, advertising light boxes, display racks, and sanitary ware.

II. Analysis of Commonly Used Raw Material Sheets for Thick Plate Thermoforming

The processing principle of thick plate thermoforming is basically the same as that of ordinary blister processing. The plastic sheet is cut to a certain size, heated and softened, deformed under the pressure difference or mechanical pressure on both sides of the sheet, adhered to the surface of a specific mold contour, cooled and shaped, and trimmed while cutting.

Thick Plate Thermoforming Commonly used raw material sheets mainly include HDPE, ABS, and ABS TPU. The basic characteristics of these three materials are briefly introduced below.

  1) HDPE: High-density polyethylene material has heat resistance, cold resistance, chemical stability, high rigidity, toughness, and excellent environmental stress cracking resistance. Main uses: 200-liter water buckets, fuel tanks, pallets, large parts, yachts, thermoformed pallet lids, and packaging for most automotive parts.

  2) ABS: (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) material: excellent impact resistance, heat resistance, low-temperature resistance, chemical resistance, and electrical properties. It is easy to form HDPE, the product size is stable, the surface gloss is good, and the load-bearing capacity is better. HDPE is more advantageous in terms of low-temperature resistance, toughness, and environmental stress crack resistance. Main uses: Widely used in automobiles, electronics and electrical appliances, office and communication equipment, etc. In the packaging field, it is mainly used for automatic picking projects of robots that require packaging size accuracy.
